Organization is a key ingredient to being a successful student. The sooner that this skill is learned the greater the impact it can have on student success.
As the mother of a college freshmen and a middle school-aged child, I realized that as they progress through school, the required assignments tend to increase. I created the Monthly Assignment Calendar with that very thought in mind.
Okay, so I bet you are wondering, what is so special about this calendar. There are a ton of calendars out there to help students organize. I particularly love the Printable Student Binder created by Abby Lawson over at Just a Girl and her Blog.
Well, this calendar helps students stay on top of their homework, projects, tests, and other assignments that may be due each month for any subject area. It also helps with prioritizing. There is also a section for tracking grades or points earned for a particular assignment or test.
How can this calendar be used? It’s very simple! Students can just jot down their assignments for the month in the chart by date for all subject areas. They can also use the calendar to write in important activities, meetings, and occasions. The Monthly Assignment Calendar is a great addition to any student binder.
- Of course….a 3-ring binder! (I prefer this one due to its sturdiness)
- Dividers (section cover sheets can be inserted into these)
- Document Protectors (optional)
- Hole Punch (Get one that will last like this one)
- Can’t print without a printer! (opt for an affordable color printer like this one)
There are a ton of options when personalizing your binder. One of the cool things about binders is how you can design and create your own covers. Add you name, a cute background and slide it into the binder cover.

I hope you find this printable useful! What are some of your favorite organization tips and tools? Please leave a comment.
