Though I am new to blogging, one of the resources I am excited and happy to have stumbled upon is Canva. If you are a beginning blogger like me, you have searched and found a ton of blog how-to’s on Pinterest (click here to follow my Pinterest Blogging Board). I’m always saving posts on blogging! Well here are some of the ways I use Canva.com and why you should use it too.

Why I love Canva and you should too

I would visit all of these great websites about blogging with these awesome graphics and wonder, where are they getting these wonderful images from? Now, don’t get me wrong, there are a ton of other great websites to get images for free or for a fee, but Canva allows you to add your personal touch to their ready-made […]

Organization is a key ingredient to being a successful student. The sooner that this skill is learned the greater the impact it can have on student success.

Monthly Assignment Calendar

As the mother of a college freshmen and a middle school-aged child, I realized that as they progress through school, the required assignments tend to increase. I created the Monthly Assignment Calendar with that very thought in mind.

Okay, so I bet you are wondering, what is so special about this calendar. There are a ton of calendars out there to help students organize. I particularly love the Printable Student Binder created by Abby Lawson over at Just a Girl and her Blog.

Well, this calendar helps students stay on top of their homework, projects, tests, and other assignments that may be due each month for any subject area. It also helps with prioritizing. There is also a section for tracking grades or points earned for a particular assignment or test.

How can this calendar be used? It’s very simple! Students can just jot down their assignments for the month in the chart by date for all subject areas. They can also use the calendar to write in important activities, meetings, and occasions. The Monthly Assignment Calendar is a great addition to any student binder.

Simplistic Teacher Binder Bundle

It’s finally here! I have finally finished my first printable and I couldn’t be more excited about it. In my last post, I explained how excited I was to discover my love for creating printable documents. I was actually working on my first one when it hit me, I enjoy doing this.
For my first printable, I decided to create the ever-so-popular teacher binder. I’m a school counselor and I remember one of the first things I purchased from Teachers Pay Teachers (TpT) during my first year as a school counselor was an editable counselor binder that contained documents and calendars I could type events and dates into. I loved it because my handwriting is not the best and typing it in looks so much better.

As a new blogger, I have been doing a ton of research on how to start a blog and get it all set up and ready to go. I have gotten a ton of great tips and step by step guides like this one at Building a Framework, on almost everything from deciding on a domain name to earning money.

I know first hand that all of this research and information can be overwhelming, but there is one thing that kept popping up in almost all of the posts that I read and that is the importance of finding your blog niche. Some bloggers admit to blogging for years before figuring this out and I thought I would never figure out mine.

So, I’ve been asked, what is Suddenly Savage? What is the meaning behind it? How did you decide on that name for your blog?

Naming my blog

Well…the truth is, I’m a Savage. Let me clarify, my last name is Savage. So that explains where the Savage portion of Suddenly Savage comes from. So why Suddenly? After 18 years of motherhood, I realized that suddenly, I’ll have one daughter leaving for college in the fall. Then suddenly it hit me, in another five years, I will be sending my youngest daughter off to college. One day I’ll wake up and suddenly I will be alone, an empty-nester, the only Savage here. I guess Suddenly One Savage would have worked but I instantly gravitated to Suddenly Savage.

So there you have it! That is how Suddenly Savage was born. I would love to hear how you came up with you blog’s name and the story behind it. Leave a comment at the bottom of this post!
