How to Organize Your School Assignments

Organization is a key ingredient to being a successful student. The sooner that this skill is learned the greater the impact it can have on student success.

Monthly Assignment Calendar

As the mother of a college freshmen and a middle school-aged child, I realized that as they progress through school, the required assignments tend to increase. I created the Monthly Assignment Calendar with that very thought in mind.

Okay, so I bet you are wondering, what is so special about this calendar. There are a ton of calendars out there to help students organize. I particularly love the Printable Student Binder created by Abby Lawson over at Just a Girl and her Blog.

Well, this calendar helps students stay on top of their homework, projects, tests, and other assignments that may be due each month for any subject area. It also helps with prioritizing. There is also a section for tracking grades or points earned for a particular assignment or test.

How can this calendar be used? It’s very simple! Students can just jot down their assignments for the month in the chart by date for all subject areas. They can also use the calendar to write in important activities, meetings, and occasions. The Monthly Assignment Calendar is a great addition to any student binder.

Simplistic Teacher Binder Bundle

It’s finally here! I have finally finished my first printable and I couldn’t be more excited about it. In my last post, I explained how excited I was to discover my love for creating printable documents. I was actually working on my first one when it hit me, I enjoy doing this.

Simplistic Teacher Binder

For my first printable, I decided to create the ever-so-popular teacher binder. I’m a school counselor and I remember one of the first things I purchased from Teachers Pay Teachers (TpT) during my first year as a school counselor was an editable counselor binder that contained documents and calendars I could type events and dates into. I loved it because my handwriting is not the best and typing it in looks so much better.

Teachers love calendars and customized documents and so do I. This bundle can be edited to your liking. You can add your name to some of the forms, fill in your class roster, add events to the monthly calendar, or take notes during a staff meeting. Print what you need to make the ultimate teacher’s binder. And did I mention that the colors and graphics are simplistic and cute with a hint of pink? Well they are and trust me, you will look preppy showing up on the first day of school ready to rock and roll.

Everything you need and more is included in this binder. There are section dividers and tabs that work great together. I prefer to print my section dividers and tabs on card-stock for extra durability. But you can use any type of copy paper. All you have to do is attach the matching tab to the section divider to help you find your documents with ease. There are two binder spine options, one with the school year and one without the school year on it.

How Finding a Niche Changed My Blog

As a new blogger, I have been doing a ton of research on how to start a blog and get it all set up and ready to go. I have gotten a ton of great tips and step by step guides like this one at Building a Framework, on almost everything from deciding on a domain name to earning money.

I know first hand that all of this research and information can be overwhelming, but there is one thing that kept popping up in almost all of the posts that I read and that is the importance of finding your blog niche. Some bloggers admit to blogging for years before figuring this out and I thought I would never figure out mine.

How My Blog Became Suddenly Savage

So, I’ve been asked, what is Suddenly Savage? What is the meaning behind it? How did you decide on that name for your blog?

Naming my blog

Well…the truth is, I’m a Savage. Let me clarify, my last name is Savage. So that explains where the Savage portion of Suddenly Savage comes from. So why Suddenly? After 18 years of motherhood, I realized that suddenly, I’ll have one daughter leaving for college in the fall. Then suddenly it hit me, in another five years, I will be sending my youngest daughter off to college. One day I’ll wake up and suddenly I will be alone, an empty-nester, the only Savage here. I guess Suddenly One Savage would have worked but I instantly gravitated to Suddenly Savage.

So there you have it! That is how Suddenly Savage was born. I would love to hear how you came up with you blog’s name and the story behind it. Leave a comment at the bottom of this post!

Having trouble starting your blog or deciding on what to call it? I found a ton of help on getting started. I recommend checking out the websites listed below. These ladies offer a ton of advice and free courses to get you started (I have taken one from each of them). Feel free to share resources […]

It’s Going Down in the DNC

The Democratic National Convention (DNC) came to my hometown of Philadelphia and for some, it’s not all about political platforms. Elom Bowman, founder and owner of Ecentrik Artistry and Elom Bowman Art & Photography, had a different platform in mind; customized, one-of-a-kind sneakers.

Growing up, I remember Elom drawing comic strips and super heroes (which he still does) all of the time. He turned his passion and creativity into what is now known as Ecentrik Artistry, and I couldn’t be more proud of him. So proud that I had to write about his latest sneaker collection.

During the DNC kickoff week, Elom’s Run DNC Philly Collection of sneakers swept the city of Philadelphia and the internet. He linked up with the Philadelphia- based advertising agency, Tierney and menswear shop, Lapstone & Hammer, also based in Philadelphia, to put together a collection of 12 one-of-a-kind sneakers created in honor of the Democratic National Convention coming to the “City of Brotherly Love”.

Many of these custom kicks have already sold out, but if you live in Philly, you may be able to snatch you a pair at Lapstone & Hammer. If the creativity and artistic quality of these sneakers doesn’t convince you to purchase a pair, maybe the fact that all proceeds benefit the national organization, Back on My Feet. Members of this organization run to fight homelessness.
